ALBANY, N.Y.—Mishell K. Magnusson, CIC, CISR, CPIA, AAI, FPIC, received the Professional Insurance Agents of New York’s 2022 Distinguished Insurance Service award at the association’s board of directors meeting on Feb. 9, 2022.

“Mishell is admired and respected by her peers and colleagues in the industry. This award recognizes her long-standing commitment to the insurance industry, and commemorates her dedication and hard work—as well as the unwavering loyalty she has demonstrated to independent agents throughout her career,” said Tim Dean, CIC, CRM, president of PIANY.

Magnusson is the owner of KJM Consulting & Training, Inc., in Munnsville, N.Y.

KJM specializes in providing a broad range of high-quality training programs to insurance agencies; insurance companies and banks throughout the northeast.

Currently, Magnusson holds the New York State Property and Casualty Brokers License; New York State Life and Health Brokers License; and the New York State Producer License to Act as a Consultant. She also has the Certified Insurance Service Representative; Certified Insurance Counselor; the Accredited Advisor of Insurance; Certified Professional Insurance Agent; and the Federation of Insurance Professional Counselor designations.

Magnusson is a frequent speaker for PIA Northeast for its CIC and CISR programs, and for the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York’s Best Practices of Errors & Omission Loss Prevention, along with PIA Northeast’s various other programs.

Magnusson has written and presented specialty programs for numerous insurance companies including Allegany Insurance Group; Dryden Mutual Insurance Company; HR Keller Group; Midstate Mutual Insurance Company; NYCM; Preferred Mutual Insurance Company; Security Mutual Insurance Company; Eastern Mutual Insurance Co.; and Plymouth Rock Assurance Co.; She also is one of the primary presenters for the New York Automobile Insurance Plan Producer Procedures course.

Currently, Magnusson is one of the Quality Reviewers for Assurex Global’s E&O Program. In addition, she has worked as an Adjunct Professor for Mohawk Valley Community College; Bryant & Stratton College; Madison/Oneida BOCES and State University of New York Oswego. Magnusson also is a member of the National Notary Association.
