HARTFORD, Conn.—The Professional Insurance Agents of Connecticut’s Young Insurance Professionals recognized extraordinary insurance professionals from around the state during its Annual Industry-Wide Gala Awards Night held Oct. 12, at Anthony’s Oceanview in New Haven, Conn.

These awards are presented by CTYIP to honor the hard work and dedication of members of the industry who have contributed a great deal of time and talent to help support the association and its programs. CTYIP, an affiliate of PIACT, promotes the professional and personal growth of those new to the insurance field by providing education and networking opportunities.

The honorees are:

Lifetime Achievement Award—Jonathan Black, Curtis Black Insurance Agency

This award honors an individual who has served on the PIA of Connecticut and the PIA of YIP board of directors throughout their career.

CTYIP of the Year—Jackie Meeker, Russell Agency

This is awarded to an agent that is an active member of the CTYIP, who demonstrates a commitment to professionalism and excellence in the insurance industry and values the importance of the independent agent.

CTYIP Director of the Year—Robyn Ricciardone, RPS

This award recognizes a director on the Young Insurance Professionals board who   participates in board activities, attends meetings and events regularly, and is active on the committees with distinction.

CTYIP Industry Advocate of the Year—Ryan Vivenzio, CNA Insurance of Glastonbury

This award recognizes a Connecticut Young Insurance Professional who has made great strides in the industry and who has paved a path for a lifetime of contributions to the insurance industry by helping new interns coming into the insurance industry.

CTYIP Supporter of the Year—Christine DeFelice, CorRisk Solutions

This is a new award that our CTYIP board of directors added for 2023. It is designed to recognize the agency or company representative who has supported CTYIP through sponsorships, as well as promoting the value of CTYIP membership.

MGA of the Year—Anthony DeSalva, Georgetown Financial

This award recognizes a managing general agent that excels in providing exceptional market access, product offering, and service to the industry.

“These people personify professionalism,” said Ryan Kelly, president of CTYIP. “By that measure, and by many others, they all are deserving of this recognition. I offer my congratulations to all of this year’s award winners.”
