ALBANY, N.Y.—Steven L. Diamond, received the Professional Insurance Agents of New York’s 2026 Distinguished Insurance Service award, posthumously, today at the association’s MetroRAP held at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel.

 “Steve was admired and respected by his peers and colleagues in the industry. He was a personal friend and mentor to me and countless others. This award recognizes his long-standing commitment to the insurance industry, and commemorates his dedication and hard work—as well as the unwavering loyalty he had demonstrated to independent agents throughout his career,” said Jason Bartow, AAI, CPIA, TRA, president of PIANY.

Since 2001, Diamond was president of Simon Agency NY Inc., a wholesale property/casualty insurance company. As president, he maintained strong client relationships as well as overseeing the agency’s overall operations.

Active in the industry, Diamond served as president of the Professional Insurance Wholesalers Association in 2023-24. He also was recognized as the Insurance Industry Man of the Year from the United Jewish Appeal in 2016.

Diamond had nearly 50 years of experience in the business environment. He was president of the Hollywood Health Club, Front Street Enterprises, Front Street Life and REMCO Agency.

In his community, Diamond served as president of the South Shore Jewish Center where he worked tirelessly on the merger between Congregation Beth Sholom and the Island Park Jewish Center. He also helped organize a senior softball tournament for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and Tunnels 2 Towers. Diamond also sponsored events for the American Cancer Society.
