A massive winter storm bringing a mix of heavy snow, rain, and high winds is set to lash across the northern U.S.—putting more than 60 million people across 28 states under winter weather alerts for Tuesday. As PIA members and their customers face extreme weather conditions in the coming week, PIA wants to remind members that PIA’s Winter Storm Info Central tool kit offers many resources to assist their clients.
Gov. Kathy Hochul has issued a press release on the impending storm. As the week progresses, we anticipate other state governors will follow with similar announcements.
PIA’s Winter Storm Info Central tool kit includes state-specific regulatory information; consumer materials for your agency to use in storm communication with your insureds and relevant information in the form of QuickSource documents and Ask PIA’s on business and personal coverages for topics, such as:
- snowplowing;
- business interruption;
- loss of use;
- frozen pipes; and
- other homeowners policy information agents and their clients may need to access.
Members who have prepared by using PIA’s Agency Preparedness and Recovery Plan may want to review their customized document and put any necessary systems in place to ensure the safety of the employees and their clients as necessary.
Questions? Contact PIA’s Industry Resource Center at resourcecenter@pia.org. PIA is working on your behalf to help you be prepared and wishes you a safe week ahead.
